The back cover says

The Declining West and a Multipolar New World Order is the first of two volumes that set out the conflict between, and attempts to bring peace to, the Western rules-based international old world order and the rising Eastern or ‘Eurasian’ New World Order that includes China, Russia, North Korea, Iran and the BRICS countries.

In this first volume Hagger narrates, with a new, fresh perspective that links day-to-day events to this overriding theme, the West’s decline from supremacy in a unipolar world to the bipolar world of the Cold War after the Second World War; back to the brief unipolar world after the collapse of the Soviet Union; and on to the multipolar world of today, with 8 primary and 6 secondary poles. Vividly catching events as they happen, he covers Trump’s response in the early months of his second term to the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and stops at the failure of the peace talks on Ukraine in Istanbul in May 2025. Hagger describes the deepening sense of the West’s decline and the feeling that a Third World War was imminent, and contrasts the dangerous conflict between West and East with the hope that West and East can unite in one democratic, presidential, part-federal world government and World State that will include the US, the EU, Russia and China and have sufficient authority to abolish war and enforce disarmament. He continues this theme in the sequel to this book, Swerving a Third World War. Both books are required reading for all interested in the future of the West and concerned at new threats from the East.
